There are currently more than 50 outbreaks of Coronavirus across North Yorkshire’s care homes.

We’ve been told by local Public Health officials that half of those are at their most dangerous stage.

It's affecting 10 per cent of care homes in the county.

Director of Health and Adult Services at the county council, Richard Webb, said:

"We've always tried to be ahead of national policy and enabling people to visit care homes. This is a real threat still and we need to take every step we can to protect people and keep people safe - as well as enabling them to keep in touch with their friends and loved ones.

We want that to be done in a safe way and in a way that works for everybody."
