Some people in North Yorkshire are too ashamed to go to work as they can't afford basic hygiene products, according to a charity.

The Hygiene Bank says being unable to access deodorant, soap and washing powder is having a massive impact on people's everyday lives.

Vicky Hardwick from the Hygiene Bank in York tells us what support is available: "We know that long before people go to a foodbank, they will stop buying hygiene products. In York we work with a number of foodbank and charities to try and support a number of families through what we now know will be a very difficult time."

As well as impacting our physical health, Vicky says not being able to afford hygiene products can have a big impact on your mental health too: "We are very concerned about the impact on mental health as people who experience hygiene poverty are more likely to suffer from anxiety and depression and it can be very isolating."
