Last updated 19th Jan 2026
A man has been charged with two further offences, as the investigation into the fatal hit and run collision in Pateley Bridge continues.
In December, officers charged a 25-year-old man with driving a motor vehicle when over the prescribed limit and using a motor vehicle on a road public/place without insurance. The same man has also been charged with failing to stop after a road traffic collision and failing to report a road traffic collision. He is due to appear at court on the 12 February 2026.
The man also remains under investigation for the offence of causing death by dangerous driving.
Due to sensitive nature of this investigation, police have removed the ability for the public to comment on NYP’s post. Officers ask that people avoid speculating on public forums or social media, to avoid prejudicing court proceedings.
Officers continue to appeal for any information about the fatal collision, which claimed the life of 19 year-old Bailey Chadwick. The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday 20 July 2025 on the B6265 at Lupton Bank, between Glasshouses and Pateley Bridge.
