Man in critical condition in hospital after assault in Thirsk

It happened yesterday evening near Thirsk Industrial Estate.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage after a man suffered serious head injuries following an assault near Thirsk Industrial Estate.

It happened at around 5.35pm on Monday 1st November 2021, when the victim was walking along York Road when he was assaulted near the second junction (heading out of Thirsk), that leads to the industrial estate.

Officers came across the man, who is local and aged in his 30s, laid on the pavement with serious head injuries. He was airlifted to James Cook Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Officers are treating the incident as an assault and are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage from anyone who was in the area at the time, including the moments before the incident.

A statement from North Yorkshire Police says:

"If you saw, or have any dash-cam footage of either the victim, who was wearing light coloured trousers and a black jacket or another man, described as muscular and wearing a grey hooded top and tracksuit trousers who was walking towards the industrial estate, or if you witnessed the assault itself please get in touch.
