Man arrested following stabbing near Selby

A 21-year-old was injured following an incident in Thorpe Willoughby on Sunday morning

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing that occurred in Thorpe Willoughby, near Selby, at around 2am on Sunday 16 May.

An 18-year-old man suffered stab wounds and was taken to hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in the Selby area and remains in custody for questioning.

A North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said:

“We recognise that such an incident will have been alarming to local people, however, please be reassured that the wider community were not believed to have been at any risk at any time.

“Residents may continue to see an increased police presence in the area as we continue our investigation, including carrying out house-to-house and CCTV enquiries.

“Our thanks to everyone who has called in and provided information so far.”

They added:

"Anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area from around 2am, or has any dash-cam or doorbell camera footage that may assist the investigation is asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101 or email CIDYork@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk quoting reference number 12210118883
