Police in North Yorkshire have confirmed a man, who was wanted for breaching his probation conditions, has been arrested in connection with a rape investigation.

The man, in his 60s and from Harrogate, was arrested in Bradford on Friday night (19 September).

The North Yorkshire investigation team worked closely with West Yorkshire Police as they believed that he was on the run over there.

Following his arrest, he was brought back to North Yorkshire for questioning and last night he was charged with rape, assault and false imprisonment.

He was remanded in custody and will appear before York Magistrates’ Court this morning (22 September).
