The A64 in West Heslerton is blocked in both directions after a serious crash.
Police say it happened just after 11 o'clock this morning between Willerby and Scagglethorpe - drivers are urged to avoid the area.
In a statement, North Yorkshire Police said: "The A64 at West Heslerton is currently closed in both directions due to a serious collision reported at 11.12am today & will be closed for several hours.
"Motorists are advised to avoid the area at this time.
"Thank you for your patience."
