Stamford Bridge re-opened to traffic after 27 hours

The A166 was closed after a lorry collided with the bridge

Drivers are once again able to travel along the A166 at Stamford Bridge, near York.

It was closed after a lorry collided with the bridge, between Buttercrambe Road and Church Road, around 10.30am yesterday (30 June 21).

Although the lorry was cleared around 4.30pm, the road remained closed for emergency checks and repairs.

It was reopened this afternoon, around 1.40pm.

Nobody was believed to be injured.

Bus routes had to divert, while the incident was dealt with.
