Lorry driver arrested after man, 81, killed in collision

The driver of skip lorry has been arrested after a fatal collision on the A19 in Ricall, between Selby and York.

An 81-year-old man, named by police as John Michael Duggan, was airlifted with serious injuries following the crash at around 10.30am on Friday (1 August). He was pronounced dead a short time later.

A white DAF skip lorry vehicle collided with a black Nissan Juke which was joining the A19 from York Road.

The 42-year-old man from York was arrested at the scene and is assisting officers with their enquiries.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.

The force said anyone who may have seen the vehicles prior to the collision, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage, should contact them.
