Weather warnings have been issued by the Met Office for snow and ice in York.

City of York Council have tweeted to say the city walls are closed today because of icy conditions.

Gritters have been out since 3am this morning to grit York's road network.

A yellow weather warning is in place for snow and ice until 9pm this evening.

City of York Council will update on their York School Services Twitter page for any school closures.

Copmanthorpe School and Tadcaster Grammar School have tweeted to say they're closing early.

There's also been a reminder from the NHS to stay local and stay safe during the difficult weather conditions.

There are road closures in place across North Yorkshire, including:

A19 between Chapel Haddlesey crossroads and Wand Lane, Eggborough

Footpath between St James Green and The Marage in Thirsk

A684 Stokesley Road, near the new development in Northallerton (due to flooding)

Lead Lane from Blakey Ridge to Young Ralph’s Cross (Sugarloaf to Westerdale)

The A170 near Sutton Bank has reopened after a closure earlier on.

It's also being reported that Rowntree Park has closed this afternoon, although there's yet to be an official confirmation from City of York Council. The Friends of Rowntree Park Twitter page say it's possibly due to rising river levels:
