Cold case detectives investigating the mystery death of a woman in the Yorkshire Dales said they've been unable to speak to her husband in Thailand.

Officers from North Yorkshire Police flew out to Lamduan Armitage's home country earlier this month to get a better understand of her life.

Her body was found in a stream near Pen-y-ghent nearly 20 years ago, although she wasn't identified until 2019.

Members of her family, who had seen articles about her death, came forward and were able to provide DNA for testing.

A post-mortem examination carried at the time of her death was unable to determine the cause.

After delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, officers were finally able to travel to Thailand this month (February 2023) to speak to Lamduan's family.

Adam Harland, manager of the cold case review unit, said it was unfortunate not to be able "to seek the views of the whole family around the issues of Lamduan’s remains."

However, family liason officers were able to share a memorial book for Lamduan with her parents.

This included photographs of the funeral service held in Horton in Ribblesdale in 2007 which was arranged and paid for by residents.
