Huge fire at former Harrogate hotel believed to be arson

A huge fire at the site of an old hotel in Harrogate is being treated as arson by police.

It broke out at the former Kimberley Hotel in Kings Road at around 11:20pm on Tuesday 07th March.

Dozens of firefighters spent hours trying to bring the flames under control.

Half of the building was damaged by smoke, while an annex was destroyed.

North Yorkshire Police said: "Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area, or anyone who has any information which would assist officers with their enquiries is asked to contact the Force Control Room on 101, quoting reference 12230042171."
