Air ambulance called to A64 crash near Tadcaster

An air ambulance has been called to attend a road traffic collision on the A64 near Tadcaster.

The A64 is currently closed westbound due to the collision at Bilbrough.

It was originally closed in both directions to allow the air ambulance to land but the eastbound carriageway has reopened.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area if they can.

In a statement online, North Yorkshire Police, said:

_"_The A64 is currently closed westbound due to a road traffic collision at Bilbrough.

"The A64 was closed in both directions for a short time to allow the air ambulance to land but the eastbound carriageway is now open.

"Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible."
