Hundreds of people have signed a petition asking John Lewis to reverse its decisions to close the department store in York.

On Wednesday, bosses announced the shop wouldn't re-open when lockdown restrictions lift, putting more than 200 jobs at risk.

Organisers of the petition have called the closure of the story a "huge loss for the city"- it only opened its doors in 2014.

But bosses say it was struggling financially before the coronavirus pandemic, and it's now looking to restructure its business.

Meanwhile, York Outer MP Julian Sturdy says he'll be talking to bosses about the decision to close the store.

He says he'll be making sure staff are offered support through the closure and will try to get them to change their minds.
