We are hearing how the hot weather is providing a much needed boost to the hospitality sector in York.

Many of us have been reaching for an ice cream to help cool down.

Stef Blair is from the Fabulously rich ice cream shop on the Shambles in York and says it's great news after a disappointing Summer: "We took a bit of a hit because of the weather and then of course now the kids are back at school we are in a heat wave. I mean if was October, November we'll take it, we'll take the hot weather whenever we can."

"Anyone in the hospitality industry knows the price of things have been going up, for us sugar, cream, milk all of our products imported over from Italy. it's not cheap so the weather is helping definitely make up for it."

Concerns have also been raised about the impact the cost of living is having on the sector but Stef says it's meant more people are choosing to go on holiday in the UK: "I feel like a lot of people coming out of COVID are still staycationing and visiting local town, rather than going abroad so that has helped definitely and everyone seems to travel in big families and big groups."
