A Harrogate foodbank is now giving out blankets, hot water bottles and thermoflasks to help get people through the Winter. With rising energy bills many say they won't be able to afford to heat their homes.

Staff the Trussell Trust say they're also working with other groups in the Town to open up a "warm space" for families who can't afford to put the heating on. It's hoped that will open next month.

Dawn Cussons is the manager at the foodbank and says they're doing everything possible to support people through the cost of living crisis. "It'll cause more mental illness, stress and anxiety, people do get depressed. Winter is a depressing time anyway in the UK, so the blankets the warm space it all helps in some small way so that is what we are hoping to do."

Staff are appealing for donations to help keep people warm as well as the following food items; fresh juice, red and brown sauce, tinned meat, soup, fruit, rice pudding, dried milk powder, shaving gel, tooth brushes.
