Drug dealers who hid cocaine in mint tin jailed
Angel Angelov and Tsonko Peev were stopped by police in Harrogate in November 2022
Two drug dealers have been jailed after being found in Harrogate with more than 20 bags of cocaine stuffed in a tin of mints.
Angel Angelov and Tsonko Peev, from Leeds, were stopped by police on 10 November 2022, where police found 26 bags of drugs on them.
Officers carried out further searches and found a knife on one of the men, with more bags hidden in the handbrake of the vehicle and in the lining of a coat.
Both men pleaded guilty to Class A drug offences, and Angelov was sentenced to five years and three months in prison; Peev was sentenced to two years and three months in prison.
PC George Frost, from the Operation Expedite team, said: “Following a swift investigation, two drug dealers have been taken off the streets of Harrogate, along with thousands of pounds worth of Class A drugs.
“Dealers like Angelov and Peev seek to exploit the vulnerabilities of users and their addictions for their own selfish financial gain.
“I hope the people of Harrogate and wider North Yorkshire feel reassured by the result of the investigation and the jail sentences."
