A family have paid tribute to a "much loved" son and brother who died in a crash near to Bedale on Sunday.

26-year-old Gregory Newcombe from Northallerton was riding his motorbike along the A684 when he collided with a car, at around 14:40.

In a statement, his family said: We are deeply saddened to announce the loss of Greg on Sunday 10 July 2022. He was a much-loved son, brother and great friend to many.

“We would like to thank the emergency services and passers-by who stopped to help and were with him as he passed away.

“We as a family are very grateful for all the messages of support and sympathy at this very difficult time.”

Police are also continuing an appeal for any witnesses and say the driver of the car is helping them with their investigation.
