General Election 2024: York and North Yorkshire
New Members of Parliament have been elected in constituencies across the county including Harrogate and Knaresborough, Scarborough and Whitby and Selby
Rishi Sunak holds on to his North Yorkshire seat but concedes defeat on disastrous night for his party.
He remains as MP for the Richmond and Northallerton constituency after securing 23,059 votes.
Sunak said: "The Labour Party has won this General Election and I have called Sir Keir Starmer to congratulate him on his victory."
He added: "The British people have delivered a sobering verdict tonight, there is much to learn... and I take responsibility for the loss."
