Free support is available for families in York who have suffered from pregnancy loss during lockdown.

Reflect is a charity offering a free support service for anyone who has suffered pregnancy loss or neonatal loss. They have centres in York, Harrogate, Selby and Thirsk.

The group will host a virtual 'Wave of Light' on Thursday (15th October) to commemorate babies' lives for Baby Loss Awareness Week (9th-15th October).

Tanya Allen is the General Manager there, and told Greatest Hits Radio York: "People have had to go to scans on their own to find out that their baby has unfortunately died. Often people have gone through a miscarriage in a hospital without their partner, because of Covid-19 restrictions.

"For some people Covid has meant that they have felt more isolated in their loss, and for others the slowdown has caused the past pain of loss to surface, which they may now need to process. At Reflect we provide free one-to-one support for anyone dealing with pregnancy or baby loss from any cause.

"We're going to be lighting candles on Thursday 15th October, and will invite others to light their own candles and upload the photos to share. We want to remember all babies who have been lost.

"It's important that bereaved families know that they're not alone, and support is there for them".
