Five people rescued after vehicles trapped in floodwater in North Yorkshire

Fire crews have rescued five people after the vehicles they were trapped in floodwater in North Yorkshire.

They were caught on the A684 between Leeming Bar and Northallerton at Morton on Swale, in the early hours of this morning (Monday).

Crews from Bedale, Northallerton and Richmond attended, and they helped the occupants out the their vehicles to safety.

The roads were closed off by highways teams whilst the rescue took place.

It's as Storm Isha battered the whole region and most of the UK, bringing strong winds and heavy rain.

One report recorded winds of 106mph at the Tan Hill Inn overnight.
