First day in the job for new North Yorkshire Mayor

David Skaith won the first ever election for the role last week

It's the start of a new political era in North Yorkshire - as the Mayor of the region takes up his post.

Labour's David Skaith now leads the York and North Yorkshire combined authority.

Investment of £18 million pounds a year is being promised by the government to go with the new role.

Mr Skaith won 66,761 votes, with Conservative Keane Duncan coming second on 51,967 and Liberal Democrat Felicity Cunliffe-Lister coming third on 30,867.
