The family of a woman who died following a fatal collision have paid tribute to her.

38-year-old Elizabeth Cross, who was from Easingwold, was involved in a crash on the A19 in North Yorkshire last Tuesday (11th June).

Her family says: “Our beautiful, quirky daughter, Lizzie, taken from us far too soon.”

A police investigation remains ongoing as officers work to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision.

It happened about 1.15pm on the A19 near Birdforth, north of Easingwold, and involved a blue Skoda Enyaq and a red Vauxhall Corsa.

Emergency services attended but Elizabeth was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Skoda, a woman in her 40s, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. She has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

The road was closed while the scene was examined and cleared and reopened at about 7pm.

If you have any information or dash-cam footage that you think could help the investigation, or saw either vehicle prior to the collision, and officers haven’t yet spoken to you, please get in touch.
