Extra patrols in Settle after homes targeted by criminals
There's been a number of break-ins in the town
Extra police patrols are going to be carried out in Settle after a number of break-ins in the town.
North Yorkshire Police said seven homes had been broken into at the end of January, and it's believed they're linked.
Cash and jewellery was taken from some of the properties, leading to the force putting extra officers out on streets.
The majority of break-ins have been at houses in the vicinity of Ingfield Lane and surrounding streets, and Church Street.
Craven Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Julie Earnshaw said: “Incidents like this are unusual in Settle and I’d like to reassure residents there is a significant police response under way to catch the person responsible.
“We’re carrying out regular patrols and we’re working closely with the community.
“We’re urging residents to keep an ear out for unusual sounds, such as breaking glass, and keep an eye out on behalf of their neighbours. Please report anything suspicious.
“Also, if you’ve been offered any items for sale, such as jewellery, please get in touch.”
