A driver who led police on a high speed chase through North Yorkshire, just minutes after he was given a ban for drug driving, has been jailed.
Jason Ryder from Wellgarth, Bishop Auckland was convicted of the original offence at Harrogate Magistrates court in March.
He walked out of court with a 12 month ban, then got in his car and led police on a high speed pursuit up the A59, along the A1(M) northbound and on the A6055 towards Northallerton.
Officers used a stinger to deflate his tyres and bring him to a stop, and Ryder was arrested.
He was sentenced to 10 months in prison at York Crown Court on Thursday 11 May.
Traffic Sergeant Paul Cording, of North Yorkshire Police, said: “It is extremely fortunate that no one was injured as a result of Ryder’s actions.
"Not only did he put other road users at huge risk due to the dangerous manner of his driving, he also showed a complete disregard for the judicial system.”
