Crews continue to battle huge blaze on Langdale Moor
Farmers have taken heavy machinery to the scene to dig firebreaks
Emergency crews have once again been battling wildfires across Langdale Moors.
The fire at the national park near RAF Fylingdales in North Yorkshire originally broke out two weeks ago and more smoke and flames have been seen in the area this weekend.
It was initially declared as a major incident.
It's understood further fires broke out yesterday afternoon and crews have dealt with several incidents on Monday (25 August) and overnight and continue to do so into this morning (26 August).
Farmers have taken heavy machinery to the scene to dig firebreaks.
Smoke is continuing to cause problems with some traffic disruption in the area.
In a statement the national park said: "There was a resurgence yesterday and the changing wind direction means that it’s proving difficult to get it under control. There are a number of road closures:
• A171 Robin Hoods Bay turn to Cloughton - (C219 Sledgates to C77 Newlands Road)
• B1416 Sneatonthorpe (Dean Hall Brow to A171)
• Gowlands Lane, Cloughton (Harwood Dale Road to A171)
• B1416 with Lousy Hill Lane
• A169 Blue Bank with Road from Moorgate Entrance to Blue bank, Sleights
• C224 Littlebeck (A169 to B1416 Redgates Corner)
These closures are in place due to heavy smoke.
The fire service are reminding people to keep windows and doors shut if you live nearby.
