Couple attacked in taxi queue in York

Police investigating have released CCTV images in connection with the assault.

Police investigating an assault at York railway station have released CCTV images in connection with an assault on a couple in the city.

At just before 11pm on Saturday 22 May, a man and woman were stood at the taxi rank outside the station when they were approached by two men who said they were getting in the same taxi as them.

An argument then took place before one of the men punched the male victim in the head which also hit the female victim in the face.

The two men then ran away from the station.

Officers believe the man in the images may have information which could help their investigation.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said:

"If you recognise him, or have any information, please contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 739 of 22/05/21.

"Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
