A man from York who was sentenced in his absence to nine years in prison for the rape and strangulation of a teenage girl over 10 years ago, has been located and arrested.
Jason Vincent Longhurst of Lindsey Avenue, York failed to appear at York Crown Court on Wednesday September 8th for sentencing.
There had been two appeals for information to try and find him.
Following enquiries, officers successfully located and arrested him yesterday in the East Riding.
The force thanked the public for their help.
