Fears North Yorkshire families will face greater debt this Christmas
It's now only two months until the big day
Experts in North Yorkshire are concerned families are going to face crippling amounts of debt this Christmas.
It's as households will be more stripped from cash compared to last winter, with no 'Energy Bill Support Scheme' payment being made available.
The Energy Bill Support Scheme gave every household a £400 discount on their energy bills for winter 2022 to 2023. This ended in March 2023.
Fiona McCulloch is the chief operating "Remember it's the memories that you are making which is the best thing, ultimately a family Christmas can be a family Christmas if you have very little money to spend, it's about being together."
"Try not to make yourself poorer at a time of year when it's going to be colder, you'll need the heating on more, for the sake of one day at Christmas when you can do other things to have a great time, don't make your January and February cold and miserable and anxious."
"Please try not to worry about money and please try not to go into debt to provide a Christmas that possible this year beyond your means."
"Prioritise your physical health as well as your mental health, you need to stay warm and you need to stay fed, and talk to people if you have any concerns about money or how you are going to pay the bills or whether or not you are going to be able to eat, then come and talk to us."
