Older people in North Yorkshire are too frightened to turn their heating on because of soaring energy bills.

So say Age UK who explain whilst it's understandable people are worried about money, getting cold can be really bad for your health if you are vulnerable.

Helen Hunter is the chief executive in North Yorkshire and says it is a really tricky time for pensioners because of the rising cost of living.

To help the most vulnerable older people through the current crisis, the Charity is calling on the Government to introduce a targeted package of support which mitigates the whole Price Cap rise for lower income households.

The Government says it is helping by offering Winter Fuel payments of up to £300 as well as a whole range of other support packages.
