A teenager has been arrested after offensive graffiti was sprayed on the walls of the Castle Musuem in York.

Staff first reported it to police last Wednesday (11 January), and again on Thursday (12 January), when more appeared overnight.

The 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated criminal damage, and being in possession of articles to commit criminal damage.

North Yorkshire Police described the graffiti as "upsetting" and said the boy had been released on bail while investigations continue.
