Fire destroys caravan near York

One person was checked out by paramedics after the blaze in the village of Moor Monkton just after midday on Saturday

A caravan has been completely destroyed in a fire near York on Saturday lunchtime.

It broke out in the village of Moor Monkton just after midday and is believed to have started in a log burning stove.

One person was checked over by paramedics following the blaze.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said:

"A 50kg propane cylinder was vented and burnt off along with a small cylinder.

"Crews used 2 hose reel jets, small tools, ceiling hoods, pitch forks, ground monitor and thermal imaging camera."
