A York Burger King's been badly damaged in a fire.

North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue were called to the branch at Clifton Moor Retail Park at 2.40pm today (Thursday 8th July) to reports of smoke in the ceiling.

A fire swept through the roof of the building and crews are expected to remain at the scene well into the evening.

People have been asked to stay away from the area.

There are no reports of anyone being injured and the cause of the fire is, as yet, unknown.
