Porsche driver who killed cyclist in crash jailed
James Bryan hit father-of-two Andrew Jackson on a road near Boroughbridge in May 2020
A driver has been jailed for nine months at York Crown Court after hitting and killing a cyclist near Boroughbridge.
37-year-old James Bryan was driving on the A168 when he crashed into 36-year-old father-of-two Andrew Jackson.
Bryan has also been handed a two year driving ban and ordered to pass an extended driving test after pleading guilty to death by careless driving.
DS Kirsten Aldridge, from North Yorkshire Police's major collision investigation team said: ""This was a tragic case, with a devastating impact on Mr Jackson's family.
"All too often, police officers attend collisions resulting in serious or fatal injuries, caused by the actions of other road users.
"We see the consequences first-hand, which is why we do what we do: work to prevent road users losing their own lives, or – as in this case – causing the death of someone else."
