Body found in River Ouse after search for woman in York

Police say the death is not being treated as suspicious

A body has been recovered from the River Ouse in York after police launched a search for a missing woman.

Officers began searching on the morning of 22nd October after concerns were raised for the woman’s safety by her family.

At around 1.30pm, the Yorkshire and Humber Marine and Underwater Search Unit recovered the body of a woman from the river near New Walk in York.

Police said her death is not believed to be suspicious, and a report will be prepared for coroners.

The woman’s family have been informed and police say their thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
