Bird flu cases discovered in Leeming Bar, North Yorkshire

Control zones have been set up at the site

There has been an outbreak of bird flu at a poultry farm in North Yorkshire.

A temporary control zone has been put in place by officials around a site near Leeming Bar.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) said further testing was under way and that all birds at the site would be humanely culled.

Bird flu was confirmed on Saturday, November 13:

The Defra website have also said that the virus is "primarily a disease of birds and the risk to the general public's health is very low".
