Bosses at the famous North Yorkshire chain have confirmed it'll be closing its smallest café, putting 34 jobs at risk.

In a statement released on their website, Bettys saying the tearoom in Stonegate is it's the "least commercially viable" out of its six sites, and it's made the decision to close it permanently.

It's hoped staff at the commonly known as 'Little Bettys' can be redeployed to other sites, and that redundancies can be avoided.

The statement said: "Over the last few years, we’ve tried several different ways to make it work better for our people, our customers and our business. Sadly, we haven't been able to find a formula that fits."
