City of York Council is inviting residents and visitors to be part of the York Community Stadium Leisure Complex.
New signage is currently being developed that will welcome fans, residents and visitors to the incredible new site, with potential signage inside and outside of the complex.
The council is inviting all those who would like to submit their head and shoulders photo to mix with many others to create a community mosaic that will be the background to all the signs.
Entry is totally free and must be completed on-line and is quick and easy to do. The deadline to get images uploaded is 6 May, 12noon, 2021.
Cllr Darryl Smalley, Executive Member for Culture, leisure and Communities, at City of York Council, said:
"York Community Stadium Leisure Complex is complete! The clubs and community partners are now moving in and as restrictions lift, we look forward to welcoming thousands of visitors and residents and fans to the beautiful designed new site.
You too can show your support for York and be part of the We are York banner, which provides a unique opportunity for residents, visitors and fans to be a part of signage in the leisure complex for generations to come.
Cllr Nigel Ayre, Executive Member for Finance and Performance, added:
It is an incredible stadium with wider leisure facility for supporters, residents and the wider York community.
"The new complex boasts new swimming facilities, gym, dance studios and sports hall with spectator seating. With 8,500 seats in the stadium, the FA and RFL have already recognised the site as one of the finest smaller stadiums in the country, with both organisations looking forward to using this in the future, including to host the Rugby World Cup later this year.
“We’re welcoming everyone to become a part of this amazing project, so please submit your photos by 6 May!”
