Appeal after a woman is shot in the neck with an air pellet in York

Police in York are appealing for witnesses and information after a woman was shot in her neck by what is believed to be an air rifle.

It happened at around 6pm on Sunday 4 February as the victim walked across the car park of the Spar store in Heworth.

North Yorkshire Police says she was treated for a puncture wound and swelling to her neck.

Officers are appealing to anyone who heard or saw anything in the area at this time or who knows anything about the incident to get in touch.

They would also like to speak to the kind member of public who came to the victims aid but left before the police arrived.
