It's been confirmed York City Knight's 1895 Cup final at Wembley WILL GO ahead tomorrow.

There had been doubts after a few members of the Featherstone Rovers squad tested positive for covid.

However after several rounds of PCR testing, no other players are affected - meaning the side can field at team and the game is ON.

Earlier we reported:

York City Knights are waiting to hear if their 1895 Cup final will go ahead this weekend.

It's after a number of positive covid-19 cases have been confirmed among their opponents Featherstone Rovers.

A decision on the game is due this morning (Friday, 16 July).

It was first revealed yesterday when York City Knights put the following on their website:

Featherstone Rovers have had a number of positive tests for Covid-19 which have raised doubts about their ability to participate in the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup Final against York City Knights at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

To recognise the risk of further transmission and in line with the Multiple Case Framework, the RFL’s Multiple Cases Group have determined that an additional round of PCR tests for the Featherstone squad should be conducted on Thursday evening. The results will be received overnight, allowing a decision on the viability of the match on Friday morning.

Featherstone and York are determined to make every effort to fulfil the match, with thousands of their supporters relishing the prospect of a Wembley appearance.

The RFL has agreed with the clubs to make this announcement so that supporters are aware of the situation.

Fans

York City Knights have confirmed if the match is postponed, Featherstone and York supporters will be entitled to apply to have their tickets refunded, if they no longer wish to attend Wembley on Saturday.

Full details of how to claim a refund will be confirmed on Friday should it be necessary because of the game not going ahead.

And it's a similar picture for travel - a statement on York City Knights website reads:

"If the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup Final does not go ahead, York City Knights and York Pullman will refund all coach travel. For those who wish to attend the Betfred Challenge Cup Final, however, transport will be available."
