The westbound carriageway of the A64 in York has now fully re-opened following a crash in the early hours of this morning.

It had been shut between Askham Bar and Copmanthorpe.

The closure was put in place at around 1.30am, and wasn't lifted until around 10.30am, meaning a westbound section of the busy dual carriageway was shut for nine hours.

During this time, Highways England put a diversion route in place via the A59.

Police say they will release more details of the collision in due course.
