17 year old dies after collision in York

A teenager has died after crashing into a lamppost while riding a motorcycle in York.

The 17-year-old rider was the only person involved in the collision at around twenty-to-eight last night on Foxwood Lane.

The rider and motorcycle – a silver BMW - left the road and collided with a lamppost.

Police are asking for any CCTV or dashcam footage- and also want to speak to any witnesses.

A number of tributes of have been left on the street.

The police stated 'Anyone with any information that could assist the investigation is asked to email Nicola.peters@northyorkshire.police.uk or call 101 press option 2 and ask for collar number 0165

'The road was closed to allow emergency services to attend to the collision and for collision investigators to examine the scene. It reopened at around 6am."
