13 dogs killed in tragic accident following Storm Dudley

A tree brought down a power line which fell onto their kennels on Thursday afternoon

Thirteen dogs have died after being electrocuted when a power line fell on to their kennel during Storm Dudley.

The animals were killed in the incident at Cuckavalda Gundogs, in Ampleforth on Wednesday (16 February).

It's believed the pedigree dogs died when high winds brought down a tree, which took a power line with it.

A full investigation is now underway by Northern Powergrid.

Owners Jack Peckitt and his wife Anna revealed the tragedy “with heavy heart” in a post on Facebook:
