Woman dies in Rainford crash

An investigation is underway after a fatal collision in Rainford yesterday (20th June).

Officers were called to reports of a collision between a grey Ford Mondeo and a grey Vauxhall Corsa at around 12.55pm on the Rainford bypass.

A woman, who was a passenger in the Corsa was pronounced dead at the scene, while a man and a woman also in the vehicle were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Mondeo stopped at the scene and is assisting with enquiries.

Rainford bypass was closed between Mossborough Road and Windle Island while investigations took place at the scene.
