Two charged in connection with Wigan stabbing

Two people have been charged by police after an elderly man was stabbed in Wigan.

Emergency services were called to Edge Hall Road, in Orrell last Thursday, after receiving reports that a man in his 70s was suffering from injuries.

He was rushed to hospital and has been receiving treatment for "serious injuries".

In a fresh update police have confirmed two people have been charged.

Ryan Sweatman, 18, from Orrell, and Deacon Hart, aged 19 from Wigan, have both been charged with Section 18 assault and possession of an offensive weapon.

They have been remanded in custody and are due to appear before magistrates later.
