Three men, including one from Wigan, jailed for Southport disorder

So far 41 people have been sentenced for their part in the disorder in Merseyside

Three people have been jailed for nearly seven years for their roles in violent disorder in Southport.

The three men appeared at Liverpool Crown Court today, Tuesday 3 September, after pleading guilty to violent disorder.

• Lee Powell, 46 years, of Fountains Road in Walton, Liverpool was sentenced to two years and four months in prison.

• Adam Latty, 25 years, of Radnor Drive in Southport was sentenced to one year and eight months in prison.

• Christopher Beard, 33 years of Gidlow Lane in Wigan was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison.

Detective Chief Inspector Tony Roberts said: “These three men played their part in the despicable scenes we all witnessed in Southport.

"To date, we have arrested 93, charged 58 and sentenced 41 people, and there will be many more to come.
