Police release image of man they want to speak to about St Helens sex assault
Woman was reportedly sexually assaulted in the early hours of Sunday 18th August on Ormskirk Street
Detectives have issued a CCTV image of a man who may have information that could assist enquiries following a report of sexual assault in St Helens.
It was reported that between 2.15am and 3.30am on Sunday 18th August a female was sexually assaulted on Ormskirk Street, St Helens.
After the incident the offender walked away towards Claughton Street and College Street.
Extensive CCTV and witness enquiries have been conducted, and detectives have issued a CCTV image of a man they believe could assist in their investigation.
Detective Inspector Jimmy Rotheram said: “This was a very serious crime where the victim was left stunned by the offender’s action. I would like to reassure the public that incidents such as this are rare, and we will not tolerate such behaviour being committed.
“We take reports of sexual assault very seriously, and we are very keen to speak with the man featured in the images to help with our enquiries.
“This was a traumatic experience for the victim, and we are working hard to ensure that the person responsible is identified.
“I am appealing to the man featured in this image, or anyone who recognises him to please contact us. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”
