Manchester United have missed out on winning the UEFA Europa League - and securing their spot in next season's Champions League.

The reds lost against Tottenham Hotspurs this evening at the San Mamés stadium in Bilbao, Spain.

Brennan Johnson scored just before half-time - putting Spurs in the lead for the rest of the match.

The loss means Manchester United do not qualify for the Champions League, a huge setback for Ruben Amorim, who will now miss out on the estimated £100m you get when you qualify for the Champions League.

United currently sit 16th in the Premier League and winning the Europa League was their only route back into Europe.

The club and their fans have got used to a lack of Champions League football recently, and 2025-26 could be their sixth campaign from the past 13 without a place in Europe's top club competition.

Spurs have ended their 17-year wait for a major trophy. They will qualify for next season's Champions League - despite being 17th in Premier League.
