Child serial killer Lucy Letby will go on trial today over an allegation that she attempted to murder a baby girl.

In August 2023, Letby was handed 14 whole life orders for the murders of seven babies and the attempted murders of six others.

The 34-year-old committed those crimes whilst working at the Countess of Chester Hospital, between June 2015 and June 2016.

During the initial trial, the jury was unable to reach verdicts on a further six counts of attempted murder.

She'll be retried on one of those allegations, relating to the death of a baby girl in February 2016, but not the remaining counts.

The retrial is expected to last four weeks at Manchester Crown Court.
