Liverpool leads the way out of lockdown as Covid pilot begins

1000 guests will attend the ACC later with no masks and no social distancing

The first in a series of pilot events gets underway today as Liverpool is set to lead the way out of lockdown.

The convention centre stages the first business event without covid restrictions later, although 1000 guests will need a negative test result to attend.

It comes as the city gears up for a weekend of firsts, thousands will take part in a pilot nightclub event at Bramley Moore Dock and on Sunday, Blossoms headline Sefton Park for the first open air gig in England this year.

Michael Kill is the CEO of the Nigh Time Industries Association he said:

"It's vitally important that people play their part and consider the impact that it's going to have on the wider cultural sector and some of the businesses that they're linked to."

"This is going to be their first real time of understanding how our environments work."

"We've got to get to a point where we understand how these businesses operate and interact within this environment because many of these businesses are not going to be around if we don't start engaging and getting to a point where we can at least attempt to get the doors open."
